Preston chairman will stand down
Derek Shaw
Shaw has been full-time chairman of North End since August 2002
Preston North End chairman Derek Shaw will not stand for re-election as a director at the club's Annual General Meeting later this year.

Shaw became full-time chairman at Deepdale in August 2002, after 10 months acting in the role.

North End have taken one point from their opening three games, and Shaw told the club website: "I thought about doing it at the end of last season.

"I have enjoyed my time, but the time has come for a change."

Shaw added: "I got back to my car on Saturday (after a 3-0 home defeat by Colchester) and it had been spat all over.

"This sort of thing doesn't bother me, but when you give so much time and effort for the job and seem to be everyone's fall guy, the time has come for it to stop.

"We have shareholders who have a lot more money than me, and it is time for them to see what they can do with it.

"If there are other people out there who can take this club to the next level, this is their opportunity."
