Jordan surprised by Boyd decision

Portsmouth coach Joe Jordan has said he cannot understand why Rangers striker Kris Boyd has decided to turn down the chance of playing for Scotland.

Boyd, who was an unused substitute against Norway, has said he will not play while George Burley is manager.

Jordan told BBC Radio Solent: "The individual has got to have the right to do what he wants.

"But I don't understand any individual, whatever nationality, that isn't desperate to play for their country."

And Jordan, who was capped 52 times for Scotland and scored at three World Cups, added: "I feel within Fratton Park there are players from different continents that are desperate to play [international football].

Cannot play media. Sorry, this media is not available in your territory.

"There were times when I was dropped but it never affected me other than making me more determined to get in the next team, I don't see it any different now to my time.

"I suppose I find it even stranger because he's Scottish and he's turned down the chance to be a feature in the games coming up and there's some big games."

Scotland's next game is a friendly with Argentina on 19 November and is followed by their World Cup qualifier away to Holland on 28 March.
