Port Vale say they are to hold further talks with a group of potential Anglo-American investors.
The club's board met with the group's representatives over the weekend.
A statement on the Vale website said: "Preliminary talks were cordial and constructive and it was agreed that further talks were warranted."
A £500,000 takeover offer for the League Two club by New York businessman Mike Newton was rejected by the Vale board in August.
