Port Vale look forward to pre-season tour of Ireland
Micky Adams guided Vale to 10th in League Two in his first year at the club
Port Vale's players are confident that a pre-season tour to Ireland will put them in good shape for a tilt at promotion from League Two next season.
Micky Adams's side will play two games during their trip in July.
Midfielder Anthony Griffith told BBC Radio Stoke: "It will be good for us to see a different side to the world.
"I'm sure it's going to be hard work, that's the type of manager Micky is. It will be the same amount of running, but with different scenery."
Speaking to BBC Radio Stoke, Vale defender Gareth Owen added: "I've been there [to Ireland] twice when I was with Stockport. They play in the summer, so they'll be quite fit and the two matches will be quite difficult.
"It's good to get everyone together and good for any new signings because it gets them into how we work and shows them the good team spirit we have."
Vale have also arranged friendly matches at Vale Park against League One side Walsall and SPL outfit Aberdeen before the new season gets under way on 7 August.
