Port Vale manager Adams 'can improve Justin Richards'
Justin Richards scored 15 goals for Cheltenham in League Two last season
Port Vale manager Micky Adams believes he can make new signing Justin Richards a better player, even though the striker is close to reaching 30.
Richards signed a two-year contract at Vale Park on Friday from fellow League Two side Cheltenham Town.
"Even at 29, there's things I can improve him on," Adams told BBC Radio Stoke. "I've had a decent record working with centre-forwards.
"The way we play will suit him and he knows he's got to work hard."
He scored 15 times for the Robins last season, but failed to agree a new contract and left the club on a free transfer.
Adams added that the arrivals of Richards, striker Sean Rigg and goalkeeper Stuart Tomlinson are showing the club are making strides to mount a charge for promotion next season.
"Justin was keen to join a football club that was progressing and that's easy to see," said Adams.
"The amount of enquiries we've had from players that are looking for clubs and want to join Port Vale, it's amazing.
"Everybody can see that we're a progressive football club on the pitch, that's all that concerns me, and Justin's bought into that."
