Port Vale midfielder Rob Taylor proud of 10-goal tally

Port Vale midfielder Rob Taylor has revealed that he has now reached his goal target for the season.

Taylor scored his 10th goal in the 3-1 win over Dagenham on Monday.

"I said at the start of the season that I wanted to get 10 so I'm delighted with that and hopefully I can nick a few more," he told BBC Radio Stoke.

The victory at Vale Park lifted Micky Adams' side up to 10th place in League Two, five points away from a play-off place with six matches remaining.

Taylor and fellow midfielder Doug Loft made an impact from the substitutes' bench, with Loft providing the assist for the third goal, scored by Craig Davies.

"I haven't been in the best form," admitted Taylor. "I've been a bit inconsistent and I can't quite put my finger on why.

"To come on and get a goal was good, and I think there's only Rico [Marc Richards with 20 goals] that's got more than me, so in my second season at the club, I'm delighted with that."

Vale welcome fifth-placed Aldershot to Vale Park on Saturday, before away trips to Accrington and Bury.
