Stoke City defender Danny Higginbotham has said the supporters have helped the team secure their Premier League status for a third consecutive season.

The 2-0 home win over Hull City on Saturday took the Potters to 42 points.

"The first season in the Premier League creates great enjoyment for the fans and it can change in the second year," Higginbotham told BBC Radio Stoke.

"The fans haven't done that here, they give us that bit of a lift when we need it and we appreciate it so much."

Stoke, who are now 10th in the table, go into their match away at Wolves on Sunday looking to win three consecutive games for the first time in the Premier League.

"We've kept two clean sheets in the last three games and that's important to us as a team," added Higginbotham, who made his 100th start for the club on Saturday.

"We go into every game believing we can get something from it, because if you don't, there's no point turning up."
