Port Vale's Marc Richards delighted with hat-trick
Marc Richards is among the top scorers in League Two with 19 goals
Port Vale striker Marc Richards was delighted after scoring his first hat-trick for the club in their 5-0 win over Chesterfield at Saltergate.
Along with further strikes from Rob Taylor and Craig Davies, it moved Vale up to ninth in League Two - within three points of the play-off places.
"I've had three chances and scored all three," Richards told BBC Radio Stoke. "So long may that run continue.
"As long as there's crosses coming in, then strikers can't grumble."
Having moved to within one win of the play-off places, with 10 games left, it was a second straight away win for Micky Adams' men, who are now finding the consistency they need to challenge for promotion.
"We've had our blips," added Richards. "But we've corrected that now.
"We've got back-to-back wins and, if we can kick on from that, things are looking good.
"Consistency has been the key all season. Last season we were so inconsistent it was a joke really.
"The new gaffer's come in and set his stall, and everybody knows what he expects from us."
