Port Vale defender John McCombe believes he has bounced back well from an error that cost his team a goal in the win over Darlington this month.
McCombe was dropped for the next game, but started in the 2-1 victory over Bradford at Vale Park on Tuesday.
"I made a mistake, but that happens in football," he told BBC Radio Stoke.
"I got the chance to come on at half-time against Northampton andxat up with a good performance against Bradford."
McCombe continued: "You have your ups and downs, hopefully I'll have more ups before the end of the season."
The 24-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and is hoping to impress manager Micky Adams enough to earn a new deal in the summer.
"My performances have been quite consistent, but it's just about keeping concentrated and focused on what we're trying to achieve," he added.
"There's still a faint hope of the play-offs, so we need to keep working hard and get closer to them."
Vale, who are 11th in League Two, face Chesterfield at Saltergate on Saturday.
