Anthony Griffith has credited Port Vale boss Micky Adams with helping him produce the best form of his career.

Adams described Griffith's performance in the 2-1 derby victory over Crewe Alexandra on Saturday as "awesome."

Griffith told BBC Radio Stoke: "It's probably the best I've played since I was a youngster at Doncaster.

"The manager tells me the job that he wants me to do, and I do it. He's instilled the belief in me to get on the ball and pass it around more."

The 22-year-old has started eight of Vale's 13 League Two games this season and has made more than 50 appearances in all competitions since signing for the club in May 2008.

He is yet to score for the Valiants but hopes the wait for that first goal may be coming to an end.

"I remember having a shot at Shrewsbury, which came off my shin," said Griffith.

"Everybody's chipping in so I'd like to get myself a goal, but I don't think it will happen a lot.

"We can't just rely on the strikers to get us the goals."
