New signing Jason Jarrett is scheduled tol stay at Vale Park until 28 December
Port Vale manager Micky Adams says new signing Jason Jarrett could prove to be "a gem" if he repeats the form he showed on his debut on Saturday.
The former Wigan and Preston midfielder picked up the man-of-the-match award after the 0-0 draw against Bournemouth.
And Adams told BBC Radio Stoke: "He's set the standard for himself now.
"He's shown glimpses there of what he's all about and, if he keeps producing performances like that, I think we've found ourselves a gem."
Jarrett, who signed a three-month deal with the Valiants on Thursday, admits that he is lacking match fitness.
"That's my first game in about five months," Jarrett told BBC Radio Stoke. "I was quite happy and hopefully there's more to come.
"It's always nice to get a half-decent performance in your first game, but I think I can play a lot better. I expect a lot more of myself.
"I enjoyed the game but I'm a little disappointed that we didn't win."
Adams, who still hopes to add to his squad, has confirmed that Bristol Rovers striker Lewis Haldane will remain on loan at Vale Park for another month.
Haldane, who joined Vale on 1 September, has made two starts, coming on as a sub on a further five occasions.
