Lewis Haldane was promoted from League Two with Bristol Rovers in 2007
Port Vale's new loan signing Lewis Haldane has said he is relieved to be back playing in the Football League.
Haldane joined Vale on a month's loan on Tuesday after a loan spell at Oxford and will go straight into the squad for the visit of Grimsby on Saturday.
Haldane told BBC Radio Stoke: "I'm really chuffed that Micky [Adams] has shown a bit of faith in me."
The Bristol Rovers winger has been told his future lies elsewhere after falling out of favour at the Memorial Stadium.
"It's pretty disappointing to have been released from Rovers at the moment, but this is a new chapter in my career," added Haldane.
"I want to come to Vale and do well. I've enjoyed myself since I've come here, everyone's made me really welcome and I can't wait for Saturday."
Haldane came through the youth system at Rovers, helping the Pirates to promotion from League Two in 2007 via the play-offs.
The winger scored six goals in their promotion campaign and he is keen to replicate that form at Port Vale.
Meanwhile, trialist Claus Jorgensen has refused a deal at Vale Park after manager Micky Adams offered the former Blackpool midfielder a short-term contract, and striker Steve Thompson has joined Blue Square North side Stafford Rangers on loan.
