Vale captain playing through pain

Port Vale captain Tommy Fraser says he is still being affected by the ankle injury that kept him out for the majority of pre-season.

"I've felt better, but I'm getting through it at the moment," the 21-year-old told BBC Radio Stoke.

"It's a bit of bone bruising, so it's just a case of resting it and icing it after playing in the games."

Fraser was a substitute on the opening day against Rochdale, but started the games at Sheffield United and Bradford.

Vale have yet to taste defeat under Micky Adams, following two draws in League Two and a shock victory at Bramall Lane in the Carling Cup.

They travel to Macclesfield Town on Tuesday, a game that Fraser thinks the team can win.

"We want to get three points on the board, but if we can't do that, then we want to stay unbeaten.

"The longer you can stay unbeaten in this division, the better it will be."
