Port Vale have been dire - Bratt

Bill Bratt
Bratt hopes the fans will return to Vale Park next season

Port Vale chairman Bill Bratt has admitted the team's performances have not been good enough this season.

The Valiants are 18th in League Two and have won just six of their 19 games at Vale Park.

Bratt told BBC Radio Stoke: "We know our performances on the pitch have been dire and everybody accepts that but the club have survived,"

"It's difficult to survive in football and people should take notice, it is a dangerous game to be in at the moment."

He added: "There's no money in it unless you're at the very top of the Premier League."

Vale are giving fans a chance to renew season tickets for a reduced price for next season.

If we do get to 5,000 again we'll revert to last season's prices, so it's entirely up to the supporters to support the club

Supporters will be able to watch their team for less than £10 a game if they keep their seats for the 2009/10 campaign and renew before the end of May.

Around 6,500 people took up the option of buying a season ticket for a reduced price of £183 last season, as part of the "Target 5,000" campaign.

But attendances at Vale Park have slipped to an average of around 4,500, as Vale have struggled to adapt to life in League Two.

Bratt added: "If we do get to 5,000 again we'll revert to last season's prices, so it's entirely up to the supporters to support the club."
