Edwards has made just 17 starts since joining Vale from Oldham last year
Port Vale winger Paul Edwards has said he can provide the inspiration to improve the Valiants' results and help them climb the League Two table.
Edwards made his first appearance in a Vale shirt for seven months in last Saturday's 2-1 defeat by Notts County after recovering from a knee injury.
He told BBC Radio Stoke: "We're crying out for width and someone who can go past players.
"Hopefully I can get fit and do that as well as bring some pace to the team."
The 28-year-old has made just 17 starts for the Valiants since joining from Oldham in June 2007.
"I just want to give a good account of myself," added Edwards. "I'd like the fans to judge me when I've played a couple of games and got back to full fitness."
The Valiants currently lie 19th in League Two, a position that baffles the former Blackpool man.
"This club should never be in this league, especially when you look around and see the players we've got," said Edwards.
