Both Mark Grew and Andy Porter have rejected the opportunity to become assistant to new Port Vale manager Dean Glover, reports BBC Radio Stoke.
Glover has held talks with both men, but the pair have opted to stay in their roles with the Vale youth team.
The 44-year-old will now be forced to look outside the club to appoint his number two.
Glover was appointed manager after a spell as caretaker following the sacking of Lee Sinnott.
