Port Vale manager Lee Sinnott has said that players with contracts that are set to expire will find out if they will be renewed in the next week.
Sinnott is preparing for life in League Two with a substantially reduced playing budget.
He told BBC Radio Stoke: "I've had to devise a plan that is dependent on the money at my disposal.
"Obviously I'm trying to assemble the squad that I want but this is dictated by finances."
Sinnott has already started his planning for next season by allowing defenders Justin Miller, Charlie O'Loughlin and Mark McGregor to leave the club.
"Obviously the thinking about the players that have already been released is dominated by money," said Sinnott.
The Valiants meet Northampton Town on Saturday in what will be the last League One game at Vale Park for at least a year.
But despite already being relegated Sinnott says he is still taking the remaining fixtures seriously.
"I won't be taking the last few games lightly, I certainly haven't got my flip-flops on yet, I want to win as many games as we can."
