Defender Mark McGregor has been released by Port Vale after two and a half years with the club.
The 31-year-old follows Justin Miller out of the door at Vale Park and manager Lee Sinnott says fans can expect more changes in personnel.
Sinnott told BBC Radio Stoke: "Half of our players are out of contract and half are in.
"It will be an important summer of assembling a squad that can play the sort of football I want."
Sinnott is now looking to build a team that will be promoted from League Two at the first attempt after the Valiants' relegation was confirmed after Saturday's 0-0 draw with Huddersfield.
"I'm not about to go and sit in a corner and cry because there's work to be done," said the former Farsley Celtic boss.
"We want to finish this season strongly and then take that on next season."
