Port Vale defender George Pilkington says he wants a new contract to stay at Vale Park for next season.

The former club captain will be a free agent in the summer and is yet to hold talks with manager Lee Sinnott over a new deal.

But the 26-year-old told BBC Radio Stoke: "I don't want to leave that's for sure, it's a great club and I've had five good years here."

Pilkington has played almost 250 games since signing from Everton in 2003.
