Port Vale have ended speculation about the future of teenage striker James Lawrie by signing him up on a new two-and-a-half year deal.
"There were a few clubs interested, which I was flattered about but Vale are the club I would like to play for," the 17-year-old said.
But 27-year-old defender Richard Walker has had his Port Vale contract terminated by mutual consent.
Walker managed just 17 starts, having suffered with tendonitis in his knee.
"It has been a really frustrating 12 months for me," said Walker, "because it has never really gone away.
"I had surgery and it looks like it has been a success, but I then had a setback when I got an infection in it.
"I know in my mind what a good player I am when I am fully fit, and I don't think a lot of people here have seen that.
"I have got no resentment towards anyone at the club. Everything has been dealt with honestly and professionally.
As for Lawrie, who has so far made only three brief substitute appearances for Vale, the young Scottish striker is relieved to have tied things up.
"I am absolutely delighted with the deal," he said.
"The manager is putting his faith in youngsters and, if I am doing well, I will get my chance.
"I like the club and there is a good atmosphere at the club, although we are struggling, but I think I can learn a lot and push on."
