Clifford is an Ireland Under-21 international

Plymouth Argyle are set to extend Chelsea midfielder Conor Clifford's loan spell at Home Park.

Clifford, 19, joined Argyle on an initial one-month loan in October, which is now expected to be lengthened.

Plymouth boss Peter Reid said: "We are delighted with Conor's contribution over the last month.

"I have been in discussions with Frank Arnesen [Chelsea director of football], and we are expecting the paperwork to be complete by the end of this week."

Reid added: "I would like to again express my gratitude to Chelsea for allowing Conor to continue his development with us."

Clifford has made five appearances for Argyle since joining in October.
