Wastefulness cost Argyle - Reid

Plymouth Argyle boss Peter Reid has said he will have to move players on in January to make his side competitive.

Argyle, who are currently 15th in League One, lost 2-1 to Exeter City in the area quarter-final of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on Tuesday.

Reid told BBC Spotlight: "You don't get easy jobs - it's a great club that needs work and I'll get that work done.

"I've got some good players and I've got some players that I need to move on, that's just a fact of life."

He added: "We've just got to work hard on the training pitch and then it's up to me when I get the opportunity to get some better players in."

Having seen his side fall to defeat in the first Devon derby at Home Park for over eight years on Tuesday, Reid challenged his side to bounce straight back in the league.

"It was a terrific atmosphere and we're very disappointed, but we'll have to swallow it and it's about how we bounce back now.

"Every game is very important, so we've just got to go out there and try and get a victory at Tranmere Rovers on Saturday which will be hard."
