Plymouth Argyle boss Peter Reid admits he faces a battle to hold onto his in-form players in January.
Top-scorer Bradley Wright-Phillips is one of several players being linked with a move away from Home Park.
Reid told BBC Devon: "Bradley is on a fantastic run of form and if you've got a fella who's winning games, then you keep on and you hold onto him.
"It's going to be very difficult for the football club in January, but we want to keep our better players."
Wright-Phillips scored twice in Plymouth's 3-1 home win over Bristol Rovers on Tuesday, taking his goal tally to 10 for the season, which makes him League One's leading scorer.
Reid continued: "I wouldn't like it if the likes of Wright-Phillips go in the January transfer window, but you couldn't have given him away last summer.
"Craig Noone, you couldn't have given away last summer as well, but football changes week by week.
"I'd just like to go positive and say that Bradley Wright-Philips and Craig Noone have been great but the likes of [Joe] Mason - I think he's going to be a really good player."
