Trialist Jermaine Johnson played for Plymouth Argyle in their reserve match against Tiverton Town on Tuesday.
The defender, 20, is currently contracted to Argyle's Championship rivals Derby and had a loan spell at Stafford Rangers earlier this season.
The Pilgrims are a centre-back short after Reda Johnson suffered a groin injury at Sheffield United on Saturday.
Goals from Bradley Wright-Phillips and Luke Summerfield were enough to give a strong Pilgrims side a 2-0 victory.
