Johnson eager to impress at Argyle

Plymouth have signed out-of-favour Birmingham midfielder Damien Johnson on a two-and-a-half-year deal, subject to league approval.

Johnson has struggled to make an impact at St Andrew's this season, managing only one appearance in the league.

The 31-year-old brings a wealth of experience to Home Park, having won 56 caps for Northern Ireland.

Johnson said: "I've been frustrated at Birmingham and I want to play. I've come here and I want to give it 100%."

He added: "I was made aware of Plymouth's interest over the weekend.

"I had a chat with the manager at Birmingham and he was ok with me coming down, and having a chat with Paul Mariner.

"We had a nice meeting on Sunday and he made me feel very welcome.

"It's a big challenge and the Championship is a tough league. It's a hard league and there is not much in it between the teams.

"The most important thing is to do well for Plymouth and that is my focus. I want to settle down here and help Plymouth climb up the Championship table."
