Plymouth Argyle have signed USA international striker Kenny Cooper on loan from 1860 Munich until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old joined 1860 Munich from Major League Soccer side FC Dallas at the start of the current season.

Cooper, who scored 40 goals in 90 games for Dallas, told BBC Spotlight he now wants to prove his mettle in England.

He said: "I hope to make a big impact here and if I can, get some goals for the team and help the cause."

The former Manchester United trainee, who has 10 international caps, made his debut for the USA on 20 January 2007 in a friendly match against Denmark.

Cooper added: "I'm excited to be back in England, my father's originally from here and I'm very familiar with the country.

"Paul [Mariner] was a huge influence and I'm obviously familiar with him from both of our times in the United States.

"I'm delighted to be able to play for him and John Carver as well - I'm sure I can learn a lot from the two of them."

With the 2010 World Cup just over four months away, Cooper also revealed he has been eyeing up a spot in the USA squad.

"Going to the World Cup is a huge goal of mine," said Cooper.

"My hope is to have success here with Plymouth and hopefully that will translate into some opportunities with my national team."
