Sturrock delight at Arsenal tie

Paul Sturrock
Paul Sturrock says Argyle will have 'nothing to lose' against Arsenal

Plymouth Argyle manager Paul Sturrock says he is delighted that his side have been drawn away to Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup.

The Pilgrims last faced Arsenal 22 years ago in the fourth round when they lost 6-1 at Highbury.

"I'm absolutely delighted," Sturrock said after the draw was made.

"We will be pitting ourselves against one of the world's top sides on their own patch in one of the world's best stadiums," he added.

And Sturrock hopes the match will inspire his squad: "It is games like these that players dream of playing in, and they do not come round that often."

And after watching Histon beat Leeds United in the second round, Sturrock says people should not think Argyle are going to the Emirates on Saturday, 3 January, simply to make up the numbers.

"I've just watched Histon beat Leeds, so you never know what might happen.

"We have got nothing to lose, and everything to gain.

"The very least the club will get from this is a little financial windfall, which, in this day and age, is important."
