Striker Steve MacLean came in for praise from Paul Sturrock
Plymouth Argyle manager Paul Sturrock was unhappy with the way his side's first-half performance against Southampton on Tuesday night.
The Pilgrims drew 0-0 at St Mary's in their Championship clash, having beaten Cardiff City 2-1 on Saturday.
"I'm very disappointed that we didn't perform today for the full 90 minutes," he told BBC Radio Devon.
"A lot of the players were still living off the performance on Saturday and it could have cost us dear."
But Sturrock said he was much more impressed with his side's second-half display after the introduction of substitutes Craig Noone and top scorer Paul Gallagher.
"Their positiveness and thoughtfulness, as far as the boy Gallagher's concerned, was a feature.
"I also thought Steve MacLean did very well tonight running the line and holding the ball up and bringing us into play - I was pleased with him," Sturrock added.
"But I think a draw was a fair result and it would have been unjust of us to nick it because Southampton played very well."
