Peterborough close to signing Mark Little from Wolves

Peterborough are close to completing a permanent deal for Wolves defender Mark Little, says boss Gary Johnson.

The 21-year-old has been on loan with Posh since March and is out of contract at Molineux.

Manager Johnson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "Mark is happy to be at the club, but his agent is away on holiday at the moment.

"I hope it's pretty close now. It's just a case of his representative coming back and we'll be nearly there."

Little made nine starts after joining Posh on loan in March while Jim Gannon was at the helm.

Johnson wants to keep the versatile defender, but said he has further options should a deal fall through.

"You have to have other irons in the fire because if you're chasing a quality player you can never be sure you have them until they sign on the dotted line," he said.

Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony has promised Johnson the funds to mount a promotion push next season.

The former Bristol City boss wants to seal his first signings by the middle of June at the very latest.

"We've made two offers and they're mulling over the terms at the moment so it should be done soon," he said.

"We're ideally looking for six or seven players and I'm looking at strengthening in most positions."
