Peterborough's Mark Cooper eyes midfield experience
Cooper has been busy in the January window
Peterborough United boss Mark Cooper has said he is making progress with securing an experienced midfielder.
Posh are targeting a player with Championship experience who is currently playing at a lower level.
Former Kettering boss Cooper told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "We've identified a target, but we may need to shift one of our existing players first.
"There have been one or two clubs interested in Toumani Diagouraga, but nothing concrete as yet."
Posh are also closing in on a new right-back with Kerrea Gilbert set to sign on loan from Arsenal.
The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Leicester and will sign at London Road until the summer.
If the results are positive then it's been a successful January transfer window

"That deal is being tied up and fingers crossed he will be involved on Saturday," Cooper said.
"With no orthodox right back we've been playing people out of position which hasn't been great."
Posh have already brought in four players during January; Izale Mcleod, Reuben Reid and Jake Livermore have signed on loan with Aaron Green joining on a free transfer.
Cooper says the success of his transfer dealings will be judged by results over the coming weeks.
"The proof of the pudding is definitely in the eating. If the results are positive then it's been a successful January transfer window," he said.
Posh have a clean bill of health ahead of their home clash with Derby on Saturday and have spent the past week in Tenerife.
Cooper hopes the warm weather training will prove beneficial.
"Derby will have prepared properly with their state of the art facilities and if we had been at home we wouldn't have been training," he said.
"So hopefully going to Tenerife will have been beneficial."
