Peterborough United manager Mark Cooper has confirmed the club are interested in signing young Aston Villa full-back Eric Lichaj.
Lichaj, 21, is yet to play for Villa, but has recently returned from a six-game loan spell at Lincoln City.
Cooper told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "He's been on loan at Lincoln and is definitely one we're after.
"But he's in and around the Villa squad and we're trying to persuade them to let him out."
Cooper has been on the hunt for a right-back since allowing Russell Martin to join Norwich on loan.
He has confirmed he recently had a deal in place for a right-sided defender, but the club could not meet the player's wage demands.
Reuben Reid became Posh's first signing of the January window after he completed a loan move from West Brom on Wednesday.
Tottenham midfielder Jake Livermore is expected to finalise his loan switch to London Road on Friday.
"He'll be signing for us hopefully on Friday, but it's all been agreed and he'll be here to the end of the season," Cooper said.

"He's a big lad and gets about the pitch and will bring a physical presence to the side."
Posh are also in talks with Charlton over Izale Mcleod as a possible replacement for Aaron Mclean.
Mclean is set to leave the club after handing in a transfer request, but Cooper says they are still yet to receive any offers.
"There have been no bids for Mclean as yet so far as I'm aware," he said.
