Peterborough reveal interest in Rushden's Lee Tomlin
Peterborough United have revealed they have been keeping tabs on Rushden & Diamonds winger Lee Tomlin.
The 20-year-old, who became the Diamonds' youngest ever player four years ago, has scored eight goals in 19 Blue Square Premier games this season.
Director of football Barry Fry told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "Lee has trained with us a couple of times in the past.
"But Darren Ferguson didn't take it any further and whilst I think he's got a lot of ability we need a target-man."
Fry has ruled out moves for York's Richard Brodie and Calvin Zola of Crewe, but says they are constantly assessing potential targets.
"Mark [Cooper, manager] needs an alternative to the Mac-Attack [Aaron Mclean and Craig Mackail-Smith] so we're looking for a big centre forward and I think most of our fans would agree with that," Fry said.

Shaun Batt is the other only recognised striker in the Posh squad with Ben Wright on loan at Grimsby.
Fry has revealed the club have taken on two trialists as they look to add to their squad, although contracts cannot be signed until the transfer window reopens.
"We've got a player from Finland and a player from Portugal over, they're both pacy forwards," he said.
"They've had a couple of training sessions and we've arranged a match behind closed doors."
Meanwhile, Cooper says he is satisfied to take a point from last night's away trip to relegation rivals Ipswich.
Posh kept only their second clean sheet of the season as they ground out a 0-0 draw, but remain bottom of the Championship table.
"Our back five were outstanding, especially Exodus Geohaghon who took a bit of stick for his performance against Swansea," Cooper said.
