Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson has called on his side to take momentum from Tuesday's 4-0 League Cup win over Wycombe.
Goals from Aaron Mclean, Tommy Rowe and George Boyd sealed a comfortable victory for Posh.
Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "We're not getting carried away with it at all but we need to take this result into Saturday.
"For an hour against Derby we showed we have it and we did it again tonight."
Posh host Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday looking for their first league win of the season.
They put out a full strength line-up against a Wycombe side littered with fringe players.
"I thought we were outstanding, that was one of the best performances I have seen in a long while," Ferguson said.
Posh have failed to progress any further than the second round of the League Cup in the past two seasons.
Ferguson believes a cup run is a realistic aim for his men.
"We're a Championship team now and it's about time we had a decent cup run," he said.
"I have no concern about playing too many games; the more you win, the more confidence you get."
