Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson does not think comments from fans will effect winger George Boyd.
Sections of the Posh support vented their feelings by turning on the 23-year-old during the 1-0 win over Walsall at the weekend.
Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "He can frustrate you at times but he'll do things on a pitch that other people don't even dream about.
"He's got a good temperament and a lot of belief in his own ability."
Boyd was an integral part of the side that won promotion from League Two last season and has been a first choice most of this campaign, netting seven times.
The former Stevenage man has sometimes been singled out for his inconsistency despite his match-winning ability.
Ferguson added: "If you start taking the things he does out of his game he won't be the same player.
"I'm sure he can cope with it fine. One or two of the players did mention it after the game, but it's my job to protect my players."
