Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson has decided to change his captain with Russell Martin taking the armband from Craig Morgan.
Morgan, 23, was only handed the captaincy over the summer, but has not been at his best in recent matches.
Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "Craig is away a lot with international games [with Wales] so there's no consistency to it.
"Craig did fine, it's nothing about that, he was just missing games."
The armband will now be handed to Martin, who led the side out for the first time against Milton Keynes on Saturday.
Martin, 22, only joined the club from Wycombe over the summer, but has been an ever present for Posh so far this season and Ferguson admits that he is one of the first names on the team-sheet.
"I feel that Russell, if he keeps his form, will be playing all the games," he said.
Morgan was delighted to be made captain back in July, but Ferguson insists losing the role so quickly will not dent his confidence.
"Craig was fine about it, so it's not a problem, not a problem at all," he said.
