Philliskirk joins Oxford on loan for one month

Oxford have signed Chelsea forward Danny Philliskirk on an initial one-month loan deal.

The 19-year-old joined the Premier League champions from Oldham Athletic in 2007 but has yet to make a first-team appearance for any side.

United manager Chris Wilder said: "We have good connections with Chelsea and they were happy for him to come out and gain experience.

"Chelsea play in the three up front so he is used to playing in that."

Philliskirk, who can also play in midfield, becomes United's 13th pre-season signing following their promotion to the Football League.

And Wilder said: "He is a young boy but I think maybe people underestimate the level we are playing at now. We felt we needed an extra body in and he will benefit from the time here.

"If he does well then he has a great opportunity here."
