Constable pride at award success

James Constable
Constable joined Oxford on loan from Shrewsbury Town in August 2008.

Oxford United striker James Constable says he is surprised and delighted to have won two prizes at the Blue Square Premier awards.

The 24-year-old picked up player of the year and fans' player of the year after his 23-goal season for the U's.

"I was on holiday in Portugal with my girlfriend when I got the call," Constable told BBC Oxford.

"It was just a complete shock really to win the two awards. They are something I am really proud of."

Constable recently agreed a new deal to keep him at the Kassam Stadium after a successful loan from Shrewsbury Town.
