Oxford United players from past and present have been on hand to take part in a benefit game for the club's youth development programme.
A U's "All-Stars" team lined up against a celebrity XI at the Kassam Stadium on Friday night.
While some clubs are cutting spending on young players United chairman Kelvin Thomas says they need act differently.
"It's always important. We need produce our own players and do things in the community, " said Thomas.
Included in the United side, who won 4-3 were BBC Oxford presenters Jerome Sale and Malcolm Boyden.
The celebrity XI included Olympian Darren Campbell and former England international Luther Blissett who were both happy to back the cause.
"You have to look at where you are going to get the future players from. Why do dad's bring their kids to football, because the kids watch the game and think that could me one day, " said Blissett.
