Oxford United manager Chris Wilder has said the arrival of new signing Ryan Clarke will raise the game of goalkeeper Billy Turley.
Clarke, 27, joined United from Northwich Victoria on Tuesday and will compete with Turley for a place in the Oxford side next season.
Wilder told BBC Oxford: "We feel we have got it right with Billy and Ryan.
"It really is that box ticked in terms of us having two high quality number one goalkeepers."
Wilder has also backed Turley to respond positively to the competition for his place in the Oxford goal.
"He has to show signs of being a true professional," said Wilder.
"There is no doubt it will raise the bar. Billy has had challenges and he has one here."
