U's must decide on Murray fitness

Oxford United must make a decision about whether to risk Adam Murray in up and coming games after it was revealed he has been playing through the pain.

The 27-year-old United captain has been struggling with a foot injury - a problem which the club fear could worsen if he continues to play.

Murray scored a superb free-kick in Oxford's 3-3 draw with Forest Green.

The ex-Derby midfielder took back the captaincy under boss Chris Wilder after stepping down earlier this season.

Murray has impressed since Wilder's arrival in December, frequently playing in a more attacking role and has scored in four away games in a row.

Wilder told the club website: "He has had a foot injury for the last month or so. Ideally he is determined to keep playing and to play his part.

"The season is far from dead and Adam is desperate to keep playing and to try and help us into those play-off places.

"It is a dilemma if we're honest because we want him to get treatment and be 100% but he is an important member of the side.

"It's just a case of wrapping him up in cotton wool, looking after him between games and letting him play matches."
