Oxford United chairman Kelvin Thomas will not be rushed into appointing Darren Patterson's replacement as manager in haste.
Applications are already coming in, but Thomas is clear about the type of boss he is looking for.
"We need someone who has experience at non-league level, or getting out of the non-league level," said Thomas.
"We need someone who can develop a passion and desire in the players for Oxford United."
The U's chairman has not set a timescale for the appointment but would ideally like a replacement by the turn of the year.
"We aren't going to rush to make a decision," he said. "We have to make sure the right person is in place.
"You would hope we would be able to get someone before the transfer window opens."
