Players let me down - Patterson

Darren Patterson
Patterson's side have only taken 12 points from their first 12 games

Oxford United manager Darren Patterson has revealed he feels let down by his players after his team lost 2-1 at previously winless Lewes on Saturday.

Lewes came from behind to leave the U's in 19th position and Patterson told BBC Oxford that he feels let down by his underachieving players.

"They have to start looking at themselves. I am gutted and very very angry right now.

"You get what you deserve. There were too many players in the comfort zone."

Patterson now faces renewed speculation about his future at the Kassam Stadium but says he will continue to try and turn things around.

"I have a good relationship with the chairman [Nick Merry]. He is an honest man as I am, my position has never been mentioned. We will just get on with it and work hard till I am told otherwise."
