Adam Murray has been named Oxford United captain for the forthcoming Blue Square Premier campaign.

The 26-year-old midfielder, who joined the club at the start of the year, takes over the role from Irish centre-back Barry Quinn.

Murray told BBC Oxford: "I wanted that extra responsibility, I feel it brings a lot more out of me.

"Hopefully I can lead by example and bring a bit more out of other people," he added.
