Oldham Athletic defender Andy Holdsworth could miss the rest of the season as he requires surgery on a recurring knee injury.
The full-back will have an operation this week to cure patella tendonitis.
Holdsworth underwent specialist treatment a month ago but will now be out for two to six months.
The 25-year-old, who was sidelined for a month earlier this year due to the problems with his knee, arrived from Huddersfield Town in the summer.
Holdsworth has made 12 league appearances for the Latics since joining from their League One rivals.
