Stability is important now - Thompson

Notts County captain John Thompson says the club needs stability after being bought out again last week.

Ray Trew bought the club from Peter Trembling to become the club's fourth owner in six months.

Thompson told BBC East Midlands Today: "We're not business people, we don't know the ins and outs, but we do read the papers and we do hear things.

"We're just hoping the club can become stable, that's the most important thing for us and for the fans."

The latest takeover also saw director of football Sven-Goran Eriksson leave the club, writing off £2.5m.

Thompson said: "He was brilliant, he worked really hard but by leaving he's helping the club financially.

"He was great while he was here but we should still be capable of getting promotion without Sven."
