Hunt joined Notts from Colchester in 2006

Notts County manager Ian McParland has offered defender Stephen Hunt and striker Ben Fairclough new contracts.

Their current deals were due to expire this summer and McParland particularly wants to see Hunt, 24, prove his worth.

He told BBC Radio Nottingham: "Stephen Hunt has to wake up and smell the coffee, and realise his potential.

"He's got a great left foot, he's quick, he's strong and he can head it. He's had injury problems but now he has to prove the potential he's got."

On 20-year-old striker Fairclough, McParland added: "He's still got a way to go but he's got enthusiasm and he can get hold of the ball as well."
