Notts County will release five of their highest-profile players at the end of a disappointing season in League Two.
BBC blogger Gavin Strachan, along with Richard Butcher, Adam Nowland, Adam Tann and Jamie Forrester will all be leaving Meadow Lane.
Manager Ian McParland told BBC Radio Nottingham: "It's not a good time, but I think it's the right decision."
Michael Johnson is to retire at the end of the campaign and only eight players will be under contract for next season.
