Picken began his career at Manchester United

Chesterfield defender Phil Picken has extended his loan stay with Notts County until the end of the season.

Picken has made six appearances for the Magpies since arriving on an initial one-month deal in January.

Manager Ian McParland told the club's website: "It's really good news for us, Phil has performed well in every single game he's played.

"He's a winner with a great attitude and is just the type of player I want at this football club."

Picken played against parent-club Chesterfield in Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Meadow Lane.

Picken added: "I enjoyed the game and I felt we deserved three points, but I'm having a really great time here."
