Safety fears close part of ground

Part of Notts County's ground will be closed off for Saturday's home game against Bradford City after safety concerns from the city council.

The council said there was a potential hazard as some fans persistently stand in the upper tier of the Kop, which has a gradient of more than 30 degrees.

That section of the stand seats 2,000 but the stand will still be able to accommodate 3,500 supporters.

The club has until the end of March to come up with a solution to the problem.

The decision was made during a meeting between the club and the city council to resolve safety issues.

Notts County chairman John Armstrong-Holmes said: "There has never been a problem of any kind in that area but we have to accept the advice of the experts."

The club said a number of maintenance issues highlighted by the authority have been resolved.
