Thompson has been in charge of County since June 2006 |
Notts County have handed one-year contract extensions to manager Steve Thompson and his assistant John Gannon. Thompson was appointed in June 2006 on a three-year contract, but he and Gannon are now tied to Meadow Lane until the end of the 2009/10 season.
"Significant progress has been made on the field of play," chief executive Geoff Davey told the club website.
"Despite tricky patches before and after Christmas, the team made a flying start and finished quite strongly."
Former Lincoln and Cambridge boss Thompson became County's ninth manager in eight years after the club finished last season in 21st place in League Two.
The Magpies are set for a mid-table finish this season and also beat Middlesbrough, Southampton and Crystal Palace in the Carling Cup.
